Maria Sieben was born and raised in Alberta. She currently lives and works in Barrhead, where she is active in the arts community. For Maria, art is a means of self-expression and experimentation. She focuses on the process of creating, working intuitively to create expressive paintings and collages. Maria loves to experiment, explore, and discover new ways of creating in her studio.
Each of Maria Sieben’s one-of-a-kind art cards are made from an original painting or collage that she created in her studio.A country girl at heart, born to a family of 14, Maria has long ago learned to 'make-do' and adapt. So when she began to experiment with paint and other materials she soon gravitated to a "use and reuse" attitude.
She has actively been creating paper palettes from recycled and new materials for several years now. She loves to experiment with paint and paper. This has resulted in a series of collaged paper works, using painted tissue paper.
When Maria is not engaged in doing art works or crafts, she is golfing, camping with her husband, or visiting flea markets, antique shops and thrift stores for little treasures. She loves beautiful and unique things and a good cup of coffee. Other interests are needlework, walking, reading, and floor curling.
