Drawing Dynamic Figures
Ages: 18+
Location: Painting Studio, St. Albert Place
Learn the foundations of figure drawing while working directly from a live model! Topics of gesture, anatomy and proportion will be covered while we focus on creating a sense of life in our works, with additional attention paid to the face, hands and feet. Various materials, including charcoal, graphite, conte and ink, will be used. No previous experience is needed!
Beginners new to drawing or working with the figure are welcome, as well as those with some drawing or figurative experience. The class will begin with a week of introduction, followed by four classes of live model drawing.

What was your favourite part of the class?"I enjoyed every aspect of the class, from the freedom to create projects to the support provided by Shirley during challenges, such as throwing items on the wheel."
"We enjoyed the comfortable, welcoming atmosphere and received great instruction. Loved it!"
"I loved that Heather came around and asked each of us what we wanted to get out of that class. Then she did demos each class based on that."
"The program brought together an excellent group of people with different levels of treaty knowledge. I loved how Celina approached topics with openness and empathy. Her discussion of the generational impacts of residential schools was very moving. Additionally, her sharing of her family’s oral histories of negotiating and signing treaties was eye-opening."
"Watching my daughter have a great time getting her hands dirty and hearing her talk about how much she loves clay now."
"Each class explores a different medium and the kids love it!"
