In 1996, Indigenous elders worked with Canada’s Aboriginal Rights Coalition to write the original script for the blanket exercise. The exercise is an interactive way to learn more about Canadian history, particularly the First Nations, Metis and Inuit perspectives that have not been regularly taught or discussed.
At the Musée Héritage Museum we offer curriculum-linked programs that share the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada, this includes the option of a blanket exercise led by Aboriginal programmers from the museum.
